Shocked, Shocked!
They’re Be Illegals Here Cap’n!

FROM THE PHONE BOOTH: The Smallest Space in  Hollywood

Were you surprised?  Did it catch you off guard?  The immigration bill’s “solution” hasn’t found many major fans.  So many in the commentariat were stunned.

They ain’t been listening too closely.  For almost a year, the search-word top-ten for the NY Times “most popular” option has included ‘immigration’ as numero-uno most of the time, and rarely below numero tres, and never missing from the top ten.  Someone in the commentariat ain’t been checking the web computer data set.  It’s all there, for any web-hitchhiker to peruse.

Founder of Hollywood Forum, a speaker-bureau and panel-discussion vehicle to "Bring the Potomac to the Palisades" on issues that overlap politics and culture with the Hollywood film-TV influence on such national concerns. His scripts have addressed politics [including a TV series pilot/bible package about state political combat, called "A State of the Union"], hazardous materials [from twelve years in emergency management, including six years managing FEMA's Superfund curriculum for hazmat], terrorism, equestrian reincarnation, serial murderer killing journalists in the nation's capitol, and fantasy about time-wasters. Finefrock is proprietor of PhoneBooth: The Smallest Space in  Hollywood... [go to Finefrock index]

Krauthammer and Will and Williams and Sowell have weighed in on the matter, two of those being beloved “poached eggs” commenting on this as economists who’ve ‘escaped’ the preserve of liberals’ expectation that anyone black must be a liberal – thus are “poached” and being very smart eggs [e.g., ‘egghead’] they give a view worthy of examining.  Walter Williams substituted for Rush Limbaugh some years ago, and his first-hour guest was Thomas Sowell – two poached eggs for a full hour was the best radio in my lifetime.  Fortunately I taped it; unfortunately, it’s lost in storage somewhere, but it remains the best insight to the subjects at hand, both by radio and their ongoing op-ed commentary. And most certainly in illegal immigration.

Even Mike Barone has offered an opinion, mixed-judgment without having seen the secret bill which GOPsters and lefties alike were trying to railroad past the perusing public.  They too apparently weren’t checking the NY Times “search” list.  Woulda helped ‘em to find that the public is constantly, regularly and intently aware of the issue, and anxious to the third power.

Now, the catfish is out of the bag, and it stinks to high heaven.  Once the bill is fully available on the net, and such as Barone can examine it without relying on the “leaders” telling us what is in it, then we’ll see the fish stink even more.

At his early congressional career, a briefing book was handed Sonny Bono – “What’s this?” he queried, and told it was all he needed to learn about illegal immigration. “Let me get this straight – it’s illegal, right?”  The aide nodded – “Then I’m against it.” And handed back the briefing book.

It’s illegal – don’t you get it?  Those on the left who want to effectively open the borders to more ‘boarders’ and get the poor Hispanic vote to boost leftwing policies, and those on the right who somehow think they can play the ‘compassion card’ by supporting this insanity.  NEWS ALERT to conservatives: the media won’t allow us to have that card in our hand.  Forget it.

Protect America.  Mexico protects its southern border, with no apologies.  As does every other nation.  Nowhere is legal immigration – note the word legal – more generous than this nation.  It’s our right to control our borders as surely as it is Russia’s, or Japan’s, or Spain, or even Saipan.  Who’s accusing them of racism for being quite strict?

Don’t plan on playing the compassion card.  Play the security card, the economic stability card, the pro-culture card [that is, protect our culture first, then we can hand out liferafts to escapees from other cultures which have failed their citizens.].

Check the NY Times regularly – have your politicians do so also.  It’s more revealing than any focus group.  If that subscription crowd, on the net and outside the NYC environs, is daily seeking stories with that word in its text, you know the issue has legs.

And count those legs crossing the border: they’re the ultimate ‘vote’ on which is the best nation to join.  But it’s our door to our culture, which is successful – and until we consider repealing all immigration laws, let’s ENFORCE ‘EM.

When that happens, the NYT search list of top-ten will drop “immigration” from the rankings.  Until then, the politicians are ranking very low indeed.  They should not have been shocked at this response. But then they ain’t been batting so well lately.  If were a sports team, it’d be in the basement, its franchise perhaps cancelled by the league. CRO
