Reaching Promontory
Governor Schwarzenegger and Senator McClintock drive the golden spike...

Over the course of the last several months, Californians have endured much conflict and discussion concerning our great Republic’s future. The governing of our future was decided “by the people” when they terminated Gray Davis and his policy of “directing by deceit.” His failed leadership and pandering to special Interests opened the door for the historic recall and election of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Despite the varying Republican beliefs and policy convictions, Californians joined together and voted to enact immediate change. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger took charge and immediately repealed the “tripling” of the Davis car tax. During the Governor’s first year in office, he proceeded to take corrective action and reformed workers comp to save Californians millions of dollars each year in costs. It didn't stop there. He continued to solidify our rights as legal residents of this great state and pledged not to follow the “tax and spend ” Kool-Aid mantra that Democrats Phil Angelides and Steve Westly hold to be so dear. The Democrats would have us believe that there are no other alternatives. They’re dead wrong.

As in any American family or political party, you have different opinions, and applications of policy. We learned from President Reagan’s example when he served as California Governor. Not all agreed with his “Big tent” view on Republican politics and policies, yet he had the “long-term” vision in view. The minor in-fighting and public opinion polls never deterred him from the true task at hand. And because he never lost sight of his American Vision. The evil empire is no more and the Berlin Wall that once separated freedom from tyranny is forever gone. The naysayers and the pessimists were standing on the wrong side of History.

In the future best interest of the party and of California, Senator Tom McClintock has unified Republicans behind Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. As the Conservative star of the party and candidate for Lt. Governor, he has led us consistently in truth.

State Senator Tom McClintock’s actions have spoken volumes. From an early age, he has dedicated his life to public service and the American People. Americans have long appreciated their conviction to certain beliefs, yet for the good of the party and California, they “roll up” their sleeves together and get the job done. He correctly stated in his recent speech” The differences between us and other Republicans are minor compared to our differences with the democrats”.

We have heard the rallying call. Conservatives will follow McClintock's lead and build our nations future- “Brick by Brick”. With Each person, laying a foundation that allows dreams and opportunity to become embedded in our foundation of Freedom.

I recently had the privilege of meeting with State Senator Tom McClintock and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Both impressed me by their attentiveness to Republicans’ concerns and their devotion to the needs of so many Californians. Many in the public arena do not realize the great personal sacrifice that these public servants and their families have endured. Their Lives will forever be altered

It was during the “New Majority “ Republican luncheon, I attended in Newport Beach California, that I realized the future that is beginning to shine on California once again. I attended knowing that my staunch conservative onvictions varied from many of those attending. Yet as I heard the Governor expound on his vision for Californians and this great nation, I realized the true answers and the future for great Republic. I heard a passionate Governor intent on bringing long-term solutions and instilling a firm foundation for Californians.

As I look to the future of California, I am reminded of California Pioneers, past and present, which represent a unique slice of an American way of life.

I am reminded of a critical turning point in America’s History. We look no further than to Promontory Point Utah. The time and place in our History in which the Union Pacific’s Locomotive - burning coal, and the Central Pacific’s -using wood, came from different directions, from two different paths, yet achieved the same goal. Different paths, different machines, one end goal. They came together and bridged the great divide. America and the world, has never been the same.

As with the Pioneers who built and shaped America, Republicans all proclaim varying ideas, views and yet proclaim the same principles. Our approaches and solutions to problems allow us to arrive together. Whether its “Pay as you “go or “Investing through bonds in our states Infrastructure”, or improving our levees and ports, we agree to move forward with the goal of serving the people and arriving at the same destination within the Republican Party. The good thing is that we are on the same road, and there’s plenty of room for maneuvering on the hills, valleys and plains before us.

We now agree to drive the unifying “Golden Spike “ through the Democrats tired and stale social philosophies. And by uniting as a party and a people, we can cross our divide and meet as those did who built the link that joined America and a people together-Forever. CRO
